Anthropic Used robots.txt, Not noindex, to Hide Shared Claude Chats

Anthropic is blocking shared Claude chat pages via robots.txt instead of using noindex meta tags, per a Wired report dated July 27, 2026. This distinction matters: robots.txt only stops crawlers from indexing new pages, but any shared chat URLs already indexed or linked elsewhere could still be found without a proper noindex directive.
